LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Amy Williams and the Nebraska women’s basketball team added to its roster through the transfer portal on Tuesday.

Arek Angui — a 6-foot-9 center from Auburn — will join the Big Red for the 2026-27 season.

Angui, who spent last season as a redshirt freshman, will become the tallest player in Nebraska women’s basketball history.

She will have three seasons of eligibility remaining when she arrives in Lincoln.

“We are excited to add Arek to our women’s basketball family,” Nebraska Head Coach Amy Williams said. “She brings with her great size, mobility and potential, and we can’t wait to see her develop in our program. She has an amazing perspective and is eager to get to work here in Lincoln.”

Angui appeared in 20 games for Auburn last season, averaging 1.5 points and 2.6 rebounds in 8.8 minutes per game.

Before coming to the United States, the South Sudanese native participated in the Dankind Academy, a humanitarian project inspired by the work of Luol Deng and Manute Bol, using education, basketball and construction as vehicles for progress in East Africa.
