Lincoln’s People’s City Mission asks for donations after running out of bottled water
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The People’s City Mission is making a plea on Tuesday, asking the community to donate water.
The mission ran out of their bottled water on Monday.
“Generally, we have water,” Pastor Tom Barber said. “We get donations. But recently, they’ve sort of run short.”
The shelter had to buy a pallet of water to keep people hydrated.
“We put almost 100 bottles of water in our sack lunches that we make every day, and we also give them to folks that are hopping about,” Barber said.
But despite the pile of water bottles, Pastor Tom said they won’t last for long. And he fears these shortages are part of a trend that could last for a while.
“I think part of it is the economy, especially with gas going up right now,” he said. “I just think people are feeling a little bit of a pinch, so we’ve seen some of our water donations and other supplies drop a bit. I know that’s happening across the country.”
The mission has a link on its website where you can buy different amounts of water that can be sent directly to the shelter.
If you want to buy water on your own, you can drop it off at the People’s City Mission location at 6800 P Street.
