LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A swatting call on Tuesday targeted a Lincoln elementary school, the police department said.

Just before 2:15 p.m., the main office at Calvert Elementary School received a call from someone with a San Francisco area code.

According to the Lincoln Police Department, a male voice on the line made threats toward the school and those inside.

Administrators followed Lincoln Public Schools district policy and put the school in Secure status, according to LPD.

The police department said it has since been lifted, and afternoon dismissal is proceeding as normal.

LPD officers immediately responded to the scene and, along with LPS security and school administrators, cleared the building.

Police said no threats were found and that it was a swatting call.

In a letter to families, Assistant Principal Rachel Lewis said this is becoming a common occurrence at schools across Nebraska.

“Today’s incident is one of several happening in our city and across the state,” Lewis said. “It is understandable, in light of recent national and local events, that everyone is on edge. We are fortunate to have a nationally recognized Security and Threat Assessment team that is constantly in communication with local, state, and national law enforcement. We work collaboratively every single day with those groups to develop and implement safety protocols to help keep our schools safe. We train, practice, utilize, review, and adjust these protocols. Today, using these protocols was a success and exactly what we train for.”

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call Lincoln Police at 402-441-6000. To remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 402-475-3600, report online at lincolncrimestoppers.com or download the P3 app.
