Lincoln Police warns community of illegal water pellet guns within city limits as summer approaches

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Lincoln Police Department is reminding the community that water pellet guns, often marketed as Orbeez or SplatRBall guns, are illegal to possess or discharge within city limits.
In a social media post shared Tuesday, police said the toy-style guns can still cause injuries, frighten residents and lead to legal consequences for users.
Parents, as summer approaches, remember that gel ball or water pellet guns (like Orbeez or SplatRBall) are illegal to possess or discharge in city limits.
They are dangerous, cause injuries, scare people and can lead to legal consequences.

“Parents, as summer approaches, remember that gel ball or water pellet guns (like Orbeez or SplatRBall) are illegal to possess or discharge in city limits,” the department wrote. “They are dangerous, cause injuries, scare people and can lead to legal consequences.”
The warning comes as warmer weather and summer break typically bring increased outdoor activity among children and teenagers.
According to the Lincoln Municipal Code referenced by the department, possessing or using the devices within city limits violates local regulations.
Residents can review the applicable city ordinance through the Lincoln Municipal Code website.
