Bomb threat at Seward Walmart determined to be a swatting call, officials say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The city of Seward gave an update on the threats that closed Walmart on Thursday evening.
Around 5:45 p.m., the Walmart in Seward — located near Fletcher Road and Highway 15 — received a bomb threat from an anonymous caller.

The male caller said that multiple pipe bombs had been placed around the perimeter of the store and would detonate in 30 minutes, according to officials.
Just after 7:15 p.m., a bomb-detection dog from the Lincoln Police Department arrived and searched the area for about 30 minutes.
The incident was determined to be a swatting call, and Walmart employees were allowed back into the store at 8 p.m.
The same evening, officials said the Kearney Walmart also received a bomb threat.
Officials said the caller’s identity and location are unknown at this time, but the case is still under investigation.
