Shooting arrest

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A man was arrested on Sunday following a lengthy standoff in Fremont.

Around 11 p.m. on Saturday, officers with the Fremont Police Department were sent to a domestic disturbance near North L Street and West Linden Avenue.

When officers arrived, authorities said the suspect was in the building with a firearm, and that there were children and an adult female inside with him.

Authorities said multiple attempts were made to make contact with those inside, but they were unsuccessful, and the suspect barricaded the door.

At that time, the Nebraska State Patrol SWAT team was called to the scene.

Around 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, the suspect voluntarily exited the home and was arrested without further incident.

The state patrol said the adult female was found with minor injuries and was taken to the Fremont Medical Center. The children were also found safe in the home.

Multiple firearms were found inside the home, according to the state patrol.

The suspect, 28-year-old Arturo Alvarez, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, possession of a weapon during the commission of a felony and obstructing a peace officer.

Alvarez was lodged in the Dodge County Jail.
