LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – People’s City Mission (PCM) has begun to see an increase in the number of community members seeking shelter from the recent heat. Right now, every bed is full but PCM is welcoming anyone who comes in for help.

“During extreme weather, no one should have to choose between staying outside in dangerous conditions or having nowhere to go,” said Pastor Tom Barber, CEO of People’s City Mission. “We are committed to providing shelter, meals, and hope to everyone who needs us.”

As the rise in residents coming in for shelter occurs, PCM has opened its overflow shelter and states that they will continue to welcome anyone, even if it means guests must sleep on the floor.

The dangerous temperatures continue to effect residents of Lincoln. PCM says the community can help those effected by donating nonperishable food and cases of bottled water to PCM to keep the guests hydrated and safe during the extreme heat.
