Judge Denies Challenges To Get Rid Of The Death Penalty For Sterling James

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Sterling James, 24, was in court yesterday and his defense raised eight constitutional challenges.

James is charged with two counts of first-degree murder, tampering with evidence and first-degree murder of an unborn child. He allegedly murdered Hannah Neville, 26, who was 32 weeks pregnant, and Robert Tanner, 27. Five others were arrested in connection to the homicide investigation.

James’ defense argued to get rid of the death penalty along with seven other challenges. The judge denied the challenges as of now.

James’ arraignment is scheduled for Wed., July 22 at 8:30 a.m.
