Nebraska Task Force One continues to monitor and plan in Texas

LIVE OAK COUNTY, Tex. (KLKN) — Nebraska Task Force One (NE-TF1) traveled to Texas this week as the floods continue to cause damage and causalities.

NE-TF1 said they are actively reconning local waterways, rivers and creaks, closely tracking hydrology and changing conditions as water continues to change positions.

Members of the task force have been monitoring the water. According to NE-TF1, this helps them understand where the danger is and where it could appear.

“Water can look calm one hour and turn dangerous the next,” said Ashley Engler, NE-TF1 Task Force Leader “Just because conditions appear to be improving in some areas doesn’t mean our team lets its guard down. We plan for the water we might see tomorrow, not just the water we see today.”

The crews are making plans regarding the Nueces River Basin and monitoring the creek levels. They said there is a rapid response crew on call at all times.

NE-TF1 said they are closely monitoring storm activity developing in the Gulf of Mexico.
