Fire at a house on Elkridge Road leaves damage and four cats unaccounted for

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A fire is currently happening at a home on Elkridge Road.

Lincoln Fire and Rescue (LFR) arrived and witnessed a heavy fire in the back of the house.

LFR battalion chief said they went to the back and front of the house with a hose. He said there was heavy damage inside, especially in the attic.

LFR said that four cats were inside and have been unable to be located. There have been no injuries reported.

The investigation is ongoing.

Update Aug. 11, 7 p.m.:

The cause of the fire has been identified as the failure of a propane grill, where the grills hose is supposed to connect to the bottle.

The property lost total is $100,000 and contents dollars lost total is $40,000.
