After morning showers and thunderstorms, periodic chances for storms return late Friday evening. A Marginal Risk (Level 1 out of 5) of severe weather is in place, which means isolated severe storms are possible. The main concerns in the strongest storms will be small hail, damaging winds and localized flooding.

Additional storm chances arrive in the forecast for Saturday afternoon and evening. A Slight Risk (Level 2 out of 5) of severe weather is in place for the panhandle and far southwest Nebraska. An isolated storm or two may remain on the strong to severe side as they move east through Saturday night. Large hail, damaging winds and localized flooding will be the main concerns in storms on Saturday.

Isolated severe storms remain on the table on Sunday, particularly for the Panhandle.

Mid-range model runs show good moisture arriving for those who could use it in southwest Nebraska through noon on Sunday. Our chances for rain remain up in the air, depending on how far east each system is able to progress in the coming days.

Highs will range from the upper 70s to the upper 80s across most of the state to end the work week. We may see a couple of 90s on the board today as well.

We will see mostly cloudy skies in Lincoln for most of Friday. Temperatures will work their way into the 80s during the afternoon, with southerly winds taking over.

Lows tonight will fall to the 60s and 70s statewide alongside chances for showers and thunderstorms moving west to east.

Storms will be possible for the Capital City late on Friday and into early Saturday morning. Overnight temperatures are expected to fall to the lower 70s.

One more warm and humid day on Saturday with periodic chances for storms heading into Sunday. Cooler weather arrives to end the weekend, with breezy conditions on Sunday afternoon.

Below-average temperatures look to continue with highs in the lower 80s for the majority of next week. Chances for showers and thunderstorms sneak back into the forecast on Tuesday and could continue into the back half of the work week.
