Hastings YRTC staff member suspended after inappropriate notes found

HASTINGS, Neb. (KLKN) — After a routine security check, a staff member has been suspended from the Youth Rehabilitation and Treatment Center in Hastings.

The check revealed notes containing inappropriate content on the desk of a youth.

“The top priority of the agency is the safety and well-being of youth in our care,” said CEO Steve Corsi. “In any instance of alleged impropriety or inappropriate behavior, we act decisively out of an abundance of caution.”

After finding the notes, DHHS contacted the child abuse hotline, law enforcement and the Office of Inspector General.

DHHS said they cannot make any further comment as the investigation is ongoing.
