Nebraska receives over $201 million from Meta settlement
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Today, Attorney General Mike Hilgers announced a $17.1 billion multistate settlement with Meta Platforms, Inc.
According to Hilgers, Meta must create new safety features designed to protect children on Instagram and Facebook.
Nebraska’s portion of the settlement will be $201,092,032.56.
“We got into this fight to protect kids, and this settlement is a historic step in that direction. This agreement provides meaningful, real, and durable changes that will make a big difference in the lives of kids and their parents,” stated Hilgers.
The new security features will include hard daily time limits, nighttime blocks, school-time blocks, age appropriate content controls, better parental controls and more.
