Good Government Lincoln amendment proposal approved by election commissioner

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Lancaster County Election Commissioner Todd Wiltgen announced that his office completed the review of petition signatures for the Changing Elections for Increased Voter Participation Charter Amendment.

The signatures were submitted by Good Government Lincoln.

Wiltgen announced that the election commission reviewed 483 petition pages of the 596. Of those pages, 7,775 petition lines were reviewed and 5,568, or 71.6%, were found to be valid.

The Election Commissioner has certified the signature threshold for the amendment.

The proposed amendment would change the elections from odd-numbered years to even-numbered years. The goal is to align local city elections with statewide and federal election cycles.
