SEWARD, Neb. (KLKN) — On Tuesday afternoon, the Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) arrested one person after they stole a delivery van.

NSP was notified that a delivery van was reported stolen out of Omaha. A trooper located the van traveling westbound on Interstate 80.

The trooper then attempted a traffic stop when the driver refused to yield. A pursuit began to ensue.

According to NSP, the driver drove on the shoulder multiple times to pass other vehicles. After about three miles, the driver of the van struck a semi while trying to pass it on the shoulder but continued fleeing.

The driver then exited onto Matzke Highway. After two miles, troopers performed a tactical vehicle intervention to bring the pursuit to a stop.

The driver, Roberto Soto, 24, of Omaha, was arrested for theft of unlawful taking $5,000 or more, willful reckless driving, flight to avoid arrest, driving under the influence, leaving the scene of a property damage crash and numerous traffic violations.

The van was stolen during the delivery driver’s last delivery so no packages were delayed according to NSP. Soto
