15 DUI arrests made over the holiday weekend

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — According to the Nebraska State Patrol (NSP), troopers arrested 15 impaired drivers over the Labor Day weekend.

The efforts were part of an annual enforcement campaign to close out the summer travel season over Labor Day weekend.

“Every DUI arrest is a potential life saver,” said Colonel Bryan Waugh, Superintendent of the Nebraska State Patrol. “Our troopers have been on patrol all summer working to keep Nebraska safe. As the summer comes to an end, we know that changing weather and holiday travel are right around the corner. No matter the time of year, everyone should make the commitment to always drive sober.”

Troopers also issued 365 citations for speeding, 10 citations for open alcohol containers, five citations for minors in possession of alcohol, 23 citations for driving under suspension, five citations for wearing no seatbelt and six citations for improper child restraint.

These driving under the influence arrests mark 348 DUI arrests between Memorial Day and Labor Day.
