Hot Friday ahead with some storm chances
We’re going to heat up for a day, then cool back down for the weekend into next week. Showers and storms are possible on and off.
Highs on Friday will range from near 90 in SE Nebraska to the middle 70s in northern and NW Nebraska.
The dew point is going to be rather high, too, so the humidity is going to make things feel much warmer.
The heat index Friday afternoon will be into the 90s and 100s for much of the eastern half of the state.
A cold front will be moving through Friday late afternoon and evening, giving us a level 1 “Marginal Risk” for severe storms in eastern Nebraska.
A line of storms will try to get going around sunset Friday. This will move east and southeast and out of our area by midnight.
Looking towards the Husker game Saturday evening, scattered showers and occasional storms are possible with the chance increasing as the night wears on.
