Week 9 high school football roundup: Lincoln Northeast caps off regular season with 8th win in dominant fashion, and more

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Lincoln Northeast capped off the regular season with a resounding 70-7 win over Lincoln Northwest Friday night at Union Bank Stadium in Channel 8’s Game of the Week.

After Northwest (3-5) scored the first touchdown of the game, the Rockets (8-1) would not allow any other points the rest of the contest and score 70 answered. Quarterback Zayne Scully and running Kaleb Poulsen played key roles in the win, as both players found the end zone at least once.

This is the first time Northeast will be in the playoffs since 2020 – also the first time under head coach Javonta Boyd – and the Rockets will find out their first-round opponent when the postseason brackets release on Saturday.
