UPDATE: Police identify body found near 33rd and O Street

Lincoln Police say they have identified the body found near 33rd and O Street Friday morning.

According to officials, 42-year-old George L. Nichols was found in the area of a dumpster.

Lincoln Police say they do not have the cause of death yet but do not suspect foul play.

Officers responded to calls of a man who was unconscious and not breathing behind the Starbucks at 33rd and O Street around 6:22 a.m. 

Lincoln Fire and Rescue crews arrived on scene and pronounced the man deceased. 

His body was found in the area of a dumpster, according to officials, but they aren’t sure if he was found in the dumpster or near it. 

Police officials said they are still in the early stages of investigation and they aren’t sure if the death was due to foul play or was accidental. 

The man’s body was discovered by a Starbucks employee, according to police.
