Former Crete teacher sentenced on sexual assault charges

A former Crete High School teacher was sentenced Tuesday afternoon for sexual assault charges.
41-year-old Matthew Hoffman, of Dorchester, received 2 years behind bars and a $2,000 fine.
Hoffman pleaded guilty to two charges of third-degree sexual assault back in September as part of a plea deal.
With that plea deal, his charges were dropped down to misdemeanors.
The sentencing he received was the maximum for the charges he was facing.
Hoffman was arrested by the Saline County Sheriff’s Office in January.
The information about the assaults is unknown, but court records show the alleged assaults go back to June of 2017 and as recent as January of 2018.
