Excellence in Education: Preparing for mock election

The November election is a little more than 2 weeks away.

Thursday evening, some students learned more about today’s political climate.

A student vote kick-off event was held at North Star High School.

It featured student speakers and some patriotic songs.

It’s to prepare 4th thru 12th graders for the upcoming mock election, held every 2 years.

That’s when students get to have their voices heard.

“We all understand that student vote prepares us to be better and more informed voters in the future,” says Suzie Cho, Lincoln East senior.

The mock election, which has the same local ballot used by voters, will be on November 6th, which, of course, is election day.

It will be held in all Lincoln Public Schools.

This is the 20th year Lincoln has done this.
