State Patrol amps up enforcement for Husker game days

From: NSP News Release
As the Nebraska football team kicks off the 2018 season, Nebraska State Troopers will be on the road, in the air, and on the radio to help provide safe travel before and after the each home game.
“There’s no doubt about the anticipation building around this football season,” said Captain Lance Rogers, Commander – Troop H. “We want everyone to arrive and depart from each game safely, and that takes a team effort on the roads. Stay alert with increased traffic volume, avoid distractions, always wear a seat belt, and never drive impaired.”
With more than 100,000 fans expected to be in and around Memorial Stadium each Husker Saturday, Troop H – Lincoln will conduct special enforcement operations focused on several counties in the Lincoln area to reduce the potential for crashes due to increased traffic volume.
This effort is made possible thanks in part to a grant for $4,380 from the Nebraska Department of Transportation – Highway Safety Office (NDOT-HSO). This enforcement will include the first four home games of the season.
NSP’s Aviation Support Division will fly the NSP helicopter before and after the game to provide assistance to troopers and local law enforcement on the ground. Trooper Dave Nelson will be on the air with the Husker Sports Network radio broadcast to provide traffic reports during pregame and postgame coverage each week.
Anyone who observes a reckless driver or anyone in need of non-emergency roadside assistance can call the Nebraska State Patrol Highway Helpline at *55 from their cell phone or 800-525-5555 from any landline. Motorists should report emergencies to 911.
