Two Lincoln women were assaulted and had their purses stolen by what police called a "mob of robbers" just after midnight Wednesday.
Police said one of the women was in a car outside of her friend’s house when a 16-year-old pointed a gun at her and told her to get out of the car, Lincoln Police Officer Angela Sands said in police briefing Wednesday.
The 26-year-old victim and her 29-year-old friend started to struggle with the teenager when six other people joined in on the fight, Sands said.
Police said they assaulted the women and stole their purses at gunpoint then drove away.
Police found the car, a 1995 Geo Prizm, leaving the scene and stopped it. All seven people were "stuffed" inside the car, officer Sands said. A handgun was recovered and all seven were arrested for robbery and other charges.
The three adults are 18-year-old Jadarica Ellington, 18-year-old Makayla Sutton and 20-year-old Najazia Stencel.
The 16-year-old and three other teens were lodged at the Youth Attention Center, police said.
The group is also connected to an earlier attempted robbery near 10th and Cornhusker. Police said the victim, a 22-year-old male, said the 16-year-old attempted to rob him at gunpoint. He suffered a cut above his eye but refused medical attention.
