Lincoln man indicted for possession of child pornography

Matt Tibbels, 58, was indicted for committing child exploitation crimes between August 31, 2020 and October 5, 2021.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – United States Attorney Jan Sharp announced the indictment of 58-year-old Matt Tibbels for committing child exploitation crimes.

The indictment charges Tibbels with crimes between August 31, 2020, and October 5, 2021, according to Sharp.

Tibbels charges include the receipt of child pornography and the possession of child pornography. Both charges are punishable by a maximum of 20 years of imprisonment and a fine of up to $250,000.

Sharp says he appreciates the FBI’s efforts for quickly obtaining a criminal complaint and a search warrant after being notified of a daycare being operated out of Tibbels’ home.

The Grand Jury hasn’t scheduled Tibbels’ next court appearance yet.
