Breezy Friday morning with sunshine; Cold front passes Saturday
A crazy day of wind throughout the state Thursday. Winds were gusting 40 to 55 mph in southeast Nebraska. The highest measured gust I could find was in Ord – 54 mph.
Wind gusts will continue through the overnight hours, gusting 30 to 35 mph out of the north-northwest. Through the day Friday, winds will remain up but not as high as Thursday. Northerly winds sustained 5 to 15 mph with gusts to 25 mph. You should notice the winds easing as we move in to late afternoon. The wind will eventually become light Friday night and Saturday morning.
The sun will return to the area for Friday as well. Under sunny skies, highs should be around 60°.
A nice warm-up is coming for Saturday before a cold front passes late afternoon/early evening. Before the front arrives, temperatures should climb to the lower and middle 60°s. Once the front passes, winds will shift out of the north-northwest and become breezy.
No precipitation is expected from the cold front at this time.
