LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A local dentistry is thinking ahead when it comes to cavity prevention.
All Nebraska Family Dentistry locations is offering to buy back Halloween candy from kids at 50 cents a pound.
According to a study done by the American Heart Association, children as young as 1 to 3 years old already consume about 12 teaspoons of sugar per day, and older children consume even more than that due to hidden sugar in kids’ diets.
“Kids love candy, but eating a lot of sugar causes dental problems as well as health concerns,” says Dr. Kathryn Alderman on Nebraska Family Dentistry’s website. “We are doing a Halloween Candy Buy Back in Lincoln, NE program at all of our locations to help give kids the opportunity to get rid of their extra Halloween candy and earn some money.
“Kids can still enjoy trick-or-treating while earning some extra money for their piggy-bank at our Halloween Candy Buy Back in Lincoln, NE.”
