Snow coming to an end across southeast Nebraska

As of Friday night, the snow has finally started to exit southeast Nebraska. We should be expecting most of the snow to be out of here after 12AM Saturday.

Generally speaking, snow totals were under an inch in Lincoln with a few totals nearing 1″ in northern Lancaster County. We have a few reports closer to the Tri-Cities of snow totals exceeding 1″. Many of our southern communities, like Beatrice, didn’t see much (if any) accumulation. For the most part, this was about on par with what we were expecting.

Be sure to check in with Meteorologist Sam Wilson on Channel 8 News at 6 on Saturday as she will have a look at some of the official snow totals.

Despite the snow ending after 12AM Saturday, skies will remain mostly cloudy. Low temperatures will dip to the mid-20s. Keep in mind that this is below freezing, so any frozen precipitation that sticks to the roads will remain on the roads through Saturday morning. Please exercise caution while driving Friday night and Saturday morning!

Friday Night Forecast

Skies will start to clear out a few hours before sunrise. We’re waking up to sunny skies on Saturday, and we’ll continue to see sunny skies into the afternoon. High temperatures on Saturday should be in the middle 40s. The combination of above-freezing air and sunshine should melt all snow in locations that saw small accumulations.

Saturday Forecast

Winter will take a vacation starting this weekend as temperatures climb into the 50s on Sunday. That will just about melt any remaining snow that is able to survive into Sunday. We may even reach the 70s by next Wednesday!
