Afternoon temperatures continue to climb this week
Southeast Nebraska jumped from temperatures in the 30°s Monday to the 50°s Tuesday. Afternoon readings will keep climbing through Christmas Eve.
Clear skies tonight and high pressure overhead will send temperatures back down to the teens for Wednesday morning. So, a chilly start to the day. Under sunny skies, and winds shifting around out of the south/southwest, temperatures will climb in to the lower and middle 50°s.
Winds will remain out of the southwest Wednesday night, aiding in keeping temperatures much above normal overnight — lows will be in the middle 20°s to lower 30°s.
Thursday will start out mostly sunny but mid/high level clouds will start streaming in overhead by afternoon. Even with clouds in place temperatures will once again go back to the middle to upper 50°s for the afternoon.
A cold front is projected to pass through the area early next week allowing a push of cooler air to the state. This should send temperatures to below normal levels for the end of 2021.
