Authorities searching for armed man who allegedly fired gun near Nebraska deputies

SARPY COUNTY, Neb. (KLKN) — The Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office says it’s searching for a man they say is armed and dangerous.

Authorities say Jonathan Sawyer fired a gun in the area deputies were investigating a physical altercation between Sawyer and another man.

This all happened on Thursday around 4:30 p.m. near the intersection of 102nd and Capehart Rd. in rural Sarpy County. That’s near the village of Richfield, just south of La Vista.

Deputies say they first contacted a man who claimed Sawyer engaged in a fight with him before leaving the area. While deputies were talking to the victim, they say they heard gunshots at Sawyer’s home nearby. They say Sawyer was able to escape in his 2011 Ford F150 truck before deputies could arrest him. The license plate number for the truck is “WXP 985.”

There’s currently an emergency arrest warrant out for Sawyer. He faces charges of terroristic threats, use of a weapon to commit a felony, and 3rd-degree assault.
