LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A judge on Wednesday set bond at $15 million for a man accused of killing a two-year-old Fairbury boy.

Jake Gonzalez, 18, was charged with intentional child abuse resulting in death and terroristic threats at his arraignment Wednesday afternoon.

Investigators said in court documents that two-year-old Hollen Siedschlag was found face down on the floor of a closet inside a Fairbury apartment and had visible bruising on the back of his head, arms, back and legs.

A deputy who responded to the apartment said in an arrest affidavit he turned the child over and saw he had two black eyes “known to be concurrent with a skull fracture.”

Gonzalez was arrested a short time later for second-degree murder, child abuse resulting in death, terroristic threats and other charges.

Gonzalez was out on bond for an unrelated shooting at the time, authorities said.

His next court appearance has been scheduled for April.
