UPDATE: “O” Street crash leaves one in critical condition
A 19-year-old man faces life-threatening injuries after a car crash over the weekend.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Lincoln Police and Lincoln Fire and Rescue received a call just before midnight on Friday about a serious crash on “O” Street by Gateway Mall.
Responders arrived to the scene of the crash, near the intersection of “O” Street and Lyncrest Drive.
According to LPD, a 19-year-old driver, whose name has not been released, was driving a silver Kia eastbound on “O” Street. He lost control of the vehicle after changing lanes, hit the median, and wrapped it around a tree, trapping him inside.
A Sheriff’s Deputy, who was the first on the scene, and a bystander helped to pull the driver out.
LPD said the driver was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and is still in critical condition.

Lincoln Police say speed appears to be a factor in the crash, but they are still investigating the official cause.
