Ceremony Held to Remember Lincoln Southeast Grad Killed on 9-11
A Lincoln Southeast grad who was killed on 9-11 was remembered in a special ceremony Thursday night.
The Jennifer L. Dorsey Howley Performing Arts Center officially opened its doors. Jennifer was in one of the twin towers that were hit by terrorists on that tragic day. Hundreds of people came out to honor Jennifer who was considered gracious, sincere, and joyful.
“It's been a long time coming, it's a beautiful event 6 and a half years in the making and today is the day for the dedication which I'm very excited for,” said Jennifer's husband Brian Howley.
“When all the kids walk by the auditorium now they see her name the see the words on the wall and start to wonder who was she? What do these words mean and how do I apply these words?” said her brother, Matt Dorsey.
Jennifer's family and others raised almost $250,000 to help pay for this theatre. A $250 million dollar bond issue passed here in Lincoln a few years ago also helped pay for renovations at Southeast.
