LINCOLN – Charlie Easley knew it wouldn’t be easy to leave the Nebraska basketball program. He knew it was the right decision though when he announced he was transferring to South Dakota State last April.

“It just felt right,” Easley said. “It felt like the best fit for me.”

Easley surprised many last season for the Huskers when he received significant playing time during his freshman year as a walk-on. Head coach Fred Hoiberg awarded Easley with a scholarship midway through the season.

Easley says he and Hoiberg left on good terms.

“He taught me a lot,” Easley said.

The Pius X grad will have to sit-out a season at SDSU before playing. He will be reunited  with former AAU teammate Baylor Scheierman out of Aurora, who played a key role for the Jackrabbits last season.
