Congressman Jeff Fortenberry announces run for re-election
Fortenberry currently faces federal indictment, being accused of lying to the FBI during an investigation into illegal campaign funds.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Jeff Fortenberry has announced his bid for a 10th term in Congress.
This comes after a controversial year for the long-time Republican. Fortenberry currently faces federal indictment, being accused of lying to the FBI during an investigation into illegal campaign funds. He’s expected in court in California next month.
However, despite the investigation, Fortenberry remained optimistic while sitting in his truck with his wife, Celeste, and dog in his announcement video.
“You see, I believe that, as Americans, we seek what is good and what is whole and what is great.” Fortenberry said. “We don’t have to give in to the most divisive voices.
“We also don’t have to accept overrun borders, incoherent foreign policy and a careening economy that is hurting so many people because of the pressures of inflation.
“What we can do is safely and securely protect our borders, rebuild our country with things made in America, and reject the voices that want to sort us out into tribes.”
Fortenberry referenced several successes he’s had this past year, including his ALS bill being signed into law in late 2021.
He will face several challengers for his seat in Congress, including state senator Patty Pansing Brooks and political activist Jazari Kual.
