CRETE, Neb. – Crete football has cancelled its game on Friday at McCook after at least one member of the team tested positive for COVID-19, per the school’s Facebook page. Multiple other players on the team are showing symptoms.

“We believe this is best for everyone’s safety,” the school wrote on Facebook. “We are working closely with Public Health Solutions and will provide more information if and when it becomes available. Thank you for your patience and understanding.”

Crete is the largest school to cancel a game because of the coronavirus. Hastings St. Cecilia and Riverside have also canceled their games scheduled for week two of the season.
