FOLLOW UP: Arrests made in smoke shop burglaries

LINCOLN, Neb (KLKN) — The Lincoln Police Department (LPD) has made an arrest in connection to a string of smoke and vape shop burglaries that seem to be connected.
Three overnight burglaries took place in February targeting D & K Smoke Shop, 2441 N. 48th St., The Joint, 333 N. Cotner Blvd., and Cloud 9 Smoke Shop, 5022 Old Cheney Rd. LPD analyzed digital, forensic, and video surveillance from the scenes and developed a list of suspects.
Upon further investigation, 18-year-old Bryan Castillo was arrested Tuesday, Aug. 18th, around eight o’clock at night for three counts of burglary. Castillo was already in jail on an unrelated charge at the time of his arrest. Another suspect, 19-year-old Tan Lian, was arrested for his involvement in the D & K and Cloud 9 burglaries. Lian was taken into custody near 26th and W Streets on June 10th around 8:30 p.m.
A 16-year-old was also referred on Wednesday, Aug. 19th, for one count of burglary concerning the incident at D & K Smoke Shop.
The D & K Smoke Shop burglary took place on Feb. 6th, the glass door was shattered, along with glass cases containing products, and 1600 dollars in vape products were stolen. Four days later, The Joint also had their glass door shattered with 43,000 dollars of vape products stolen. While Cloud 9 Smoke Shop was broken into that same night, Feb. 10th, where they sustained 60,000 dollars in damage.
