WATCH: Garage collapses during fire in west Lincoln causing $100,000 in damage

UPDATE, 5/8 — Investigators estimate Friday night’s garage fire near West A and Southwest 8th Streets caused a total of $100,000 in damage.

That includes $50,000 to the three vehicles inside and $50,000 to the structure itself.

The cause of the blaze is still under investigation as of Monday morning.

Lincoln Fire and Rescue confirms there were no injuries.

The update comes just hours after a separate garage fire near Northwest 8th Street and Westward Road.

Flames quickly spread to the attached home’s attic leading to another collapse.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A garage went up in flames in west Lincoln on Friday night.

Lincoln Fire & Rescue responded to the blaze near West A and Southwest 8th Streets around 10:15 p.m.

Firefighters found the garage fully engulfed when they arrived, according to LFR Battalion Chief Jeremy Gegg.

He said the flames were threatening the house, but crews were able to contain them to the garage.

Firefighters used chainsaws to cut a hole in the garage, which then collapsed, according to a Channel 8 reporter at the scene.

Multiple vehicles were damaged, Gegg said.

The cause of the fire and the amount of damage are still under investigation.
