LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Gov.-elect Jim Pillen has begun assembling a team for his transition into the governor’s mansion.

Dave Lopez, the former assistant attorney general under Jon Bruning and Doug Peterson, will serve as the transition team’s director and Chief of Staff.

Lopez also represented State Sen. Julie Slama after then-gubernatorial candidate Charles Herbster accused her of defamation.

Pillen’s campaign manager, Kenny Zoeller, has been tapped as transition policy director. Zoeller is a former executive director of the Nebraska Republican Party.

John Gage, the current deputy campaign manager, will serve as transition communications advisor. Ann Jablonski will serve as the transition scheduler.

On Wednesday, Gov. Pete Ricketts congratulated Pillen on his gubernatorial victory, committing to an easy transition between administrations.

“Congratulations to Jim Pillen for being elected to serve Nebraskans as our state’s next Governor,” Ricketts said in a press release. “I look forward to working closely with Governor-Elect Pillen and his team to ensure a smooth transition.”
