Governor Johanns Vetoed The Legislatures Proposed Budget Plan

The legislatures 5.4 billion dollar budget plan relies on higher taxes and smaller spending cuts, but Governor Johanns showed his disapproval to that proposal on Monday with a veto. The Governor vetoed all three of the bills aimed at eliminating the 756-million dollar shortfall.. However, when that proposal passed in the legislature last week, it did so.. With more than enough votes to override a gubernatorial veto. Now governor Mike Johanns says he'll work hard tomorrow to convince lawmakers that raising taxes isn't the answer.

Again even though the Governor vetoed the budget plan on Monday, it takes 30 votes to override a veto.
