Bullets hit home in central Lincoln neighborhood familiar with shootings

The home near 28th and T Streets is the same area where four people were injured in a shooting back in July

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Lincoln Police say they are investigating a shooting in central Lincoln after a home was hit with gunshots late Monday night.

Officers were sent to a home near 28th and T Streets after a caller reported hearing gunshots in the area around 9:45 p.m.

When officers arrived, they found that the home had been hit three times by gunfire.

A resident told police that they had heard four gunshots and then saw people running north but did not give any further description.

Police say there were five residents inside the home at the time of the shooting, a mother, her three kids and a friend, and that none of them were injured.

Police do not have an estimated amount of damages at this time.

This is the same house that was shot when four people were injured back in July.

Some residents in the area at that time told us they were unfazed by the shooting in the area, while others said they were worried about the recent violence.

One neighbor, who wished to remain anonymous, says when she moved in 15 years ago, she would call the police at least once a month.

She says she’s still happy to live in the neighborhood and that there are a lot of nice people in the area.

She also expressed gratitude for the police and said last night they really made her feel cared for.

While that neighbor feels the neighborhood has really cleaned up in the past few years, other residents are not so sure.

Other neighbors in the area have started to question the safety of the neighborhood, even after years of improvement in the amount of crime.

Another neighbor believes that the shooting was a drive-by, and suggested it was likely connected to the one from a month ago.

An investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call Lincoln Police at 402-441-6000 or Crime Stoppers at 402-475-3600.
