Heat continues with isolated strong storm chances
The heat will continue through the rest of the week into the weekend. Storm chances are out there, but not everybody will see rain.
The Extreme Heat Warning and Heat Advisory will continue through Tuesday evening. The heat index will be in the 100 to 110 degree range.
A frontal boundary is going to push through all of that heat and humidity and storms may form out of that. It won’t cool us off, but isolated severe storms are possible, especially in the yellow shaded “Slight Risk” area.
Storms form quickly around sunset, then move northeast just as fast. Above is what our StormCast weather model is saying for timing, duration, and location of the storms.
By Tuesday morning, eastern Nebraska does not cool off much. Lots of mid to upper 70s out there. Cooler further west.
High temperatures will climb into the middle 90s again in eastern Nebraska. 80s for the rest of the state.
The heat index in eastern Nebraska will be close to 100 degrees.
We have another chance for storms on Tuesday with the higher risk in south central Nebraska. Timing for these storms is in the evening and overnight hours.
