Husker basketball will take off election day this season
"We will encourage our student-athletes to refister and use their right to vote so that their voices can be heard," Fred Hoiberg said in a statement.
LINCOLN – Nebraska men’s basketball coach Fred Hoiberg announced on Wednesday that the Huskers will be using Nov. 3 as an off day to encourage his players to go vote during the upcoming election.
“We will encourage our student-athletes to register and use their right to vote so that their voices can be heard,” Hoiberg said in a statement.
The NCAA is still considering a proposal that would make Nov. 3 a national off-day for all athletic competitions and practices.
Hoiberg and the Huskers are one of the first teams in the country to officially take the day off.
