LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Jeff Rump is stepping down as Lincoln Southwest’s girls basketball coach.

Rump announced the news via social media on Wednesday. He’s retiring from both coaching and teaching at Lincoln Southwest.

“Jeff has done an amazing job as head coach at Southwest,” said Lincoln Southwest athletic director Mark Armstrong. “Not only have his teams excelled on the court, but have also excelled in the community service that his teams have provided. He not only taught his girls how to play basketball, but also taught the importance of being servant leaders for our school and community. Jeff’s leadership will be missed.”

Rump led the Silver Hawks to five straight state tournament appearances in seven years, including the school’s first Class A state championship in 2017.
