LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – State Sen. Patty Pansing Brooks and Rep. Mike Flood will debate on Channel 8 on Sunday as they campaign for the 1st Congressional District seat.

“Channel 8 is excited about the opportunity to serve our viewers, and the people of Congressional District 1 by producing this debate,” Channel 8 General Manager Kern Dant said.

The debate will be broadcast live Sunday from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Andersen Hall at 5 p.m. on KLKNTV.com and KLKN Channel 8.

“Our mission in the College of Journalism and Mass Communication is grounded in the ethical pursuit of truth to uphold democracy,” said Shari Veil, professor and dean of the college. “We appreciate the opportunity to host this debate and for our students to engage in this important democratic process.”

KLKN News Anchor Rod Fowler will moderate the hourlong debate, which will include questions from District 1 constituents and UNL students. You can submit your questions here.

In June, Flood defeated Pansing Brooks in a special election for the congressional seat, left vacant by former Rep. Jeff Fortenberry.
