Lancaster County COVID-19 update, variants on the rise

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Today, LLCHD reports 45 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the community total to 30,625.

A total of 38 COVID variants have been identified within the county, nearly 75% of the cases are the UK variant.

The total number of deaths remains at 232.

More than 27,500 people have recovered from the virus and nearly 263,760 vaccines have been administered.

The weekly positivity rate is 6.6%.

Twenty-nine COVID patients are hospitalized (19 are Lancaster County residents). One patient is on a ventilator.
