Lancaster County deputies setting up checkpoint during Click It or Ticket campaign
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office detailed its plans for the Click It or Ticket campaign, which begins on Wednesday.
Deputies will be taking part in the campaign until June 4, covering the weeks before and after Memorial Day.
The goal of the campaign is to keep roads safe across Lancaster County.
On Wednesday, deputies will set up a safety checkpoint on Highway 6, just west of 98th Street, from 3 to 8 p.m.
“We’re just checking for paperwork and making sure people are wearing their seat belts,” Chief Deputy Ben Houchin said.
Over the weekend, the sheriff’s office will have additional deputies working throughout Lancaster County.
A mini-grant from the Nebraska Department of Transportation’s Highway Safety Office will fund deputies’ overtime.
