Laurann is from Los Angeles. Her favorite childhood memories have to do with her family. Every Sunday they would ride their bikes to Venice Beach after church to enjoy giant slices of pizza, before sipping on hot chocolate as the sun set.
Laurann was introduced to the news early in life, because her mother was news reporter. At first though, she wasn’t planning to go into broadcasting, but as she remembers, “I realized broadcast journalism, combined my love for writing and storytelling with a natural curiosity”, so she changed her major at the University of Arizona., where she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Communications.
Before coming to Channel 8 KLKN-TV, Laurann worked at KNSD in San Diego and was a producer and weather anchor at KHGI in Kearney. Laurann believes that if you’re not nosy, you’ll never make a good reporter and she continues, “most children grow out of the habit of always asking why?, I never did.” Laurann was promoted to weekend weather anchor in September of 2015. She will continue some reporting, but her focus will be to watch for severe weather for viewers.
She is an extreme sports junkie. She loves surfing, snowboarding, sky diving and rock climbing, pretty much anything some people might deem as “crazy”. She also enjoys dancing and discovering new and unique places.
