Lincoln hospitals treated nearly 70 people for firework- related injuries over the holiday weekend.

Bryan Health treated 21 total patients on July 3 and July 4, mostly for burns or abrasions suffered from artillery shells.

The number was up from last year when Bryan treated 12 patients.

Meanwhile, CHI Health saw a total of 48 patients. Of those, 35 came into the outpatient burn clinic, four were admitted to the inpatient burn unit and nine patients came into the emergency department.

CHI said they expect the number of outpatient burn patients to rise throughout the week.
