LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Three Lincoln Northeast students created an art mural for downtown Lincoln restaurant, Muchachos.
Brayan Ramirez, Lakota Bennett and Lily Bennett say the mural took them two months to complete. The three are involved with the Art Bus LNK community outreach program that gets young people involved with art.
“We just wanted to make it a fun canvas painting,” Lakota said. “We wanted to make it different and original to what we wanted. And we just had fun with it.”
The mural features the Muchachos logo with Pac-Man themed features throughout the piece, including Pac-Man gobbling up tacos.
“I’m just like a really big ’90s geek so it made sense when I started to share the idea with them,” Ramirez said. “And then after that we uses that same base concept to be able to put in other elements to make it really, really fun up until the point of the end.”
The three students were awarded $300 to split from Art Bus LNK as a acknowledgement of their hard work and creativity.“It’s crazy to be here and to have this opportunity and get closer with these two,” Lily said.
Ramirez, a 12th grader at Northeast, says he’s honored that their project will be displayed at Muchachos.
I’m always going to treasure this forever for what it was because it means to me, a lot,” Ramirez said. “Even if it’s not about the product being hanged up or anything else. It’s the experience and it really means [a lot] to me as a person.”
