Lincoln police identify suspect in homicide investigation

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Lincoln police have identified the man suspected of killing and shooting another man early Sunday morning.

LPD says 23-year-old Lendell Harris was arrested of second-degree murder and use of a weapon to commit a felony. He’s currently booked at Lancaster County Jail.

Lendell Harris, 23, has been arrested for second-degree murder.

The alleged homicide happened early Sunday morning, leaving a 28-year-old man dead.

According to authorities, LPD and LFR were dispatched to an apartment near 48th and ‘O’ streets (300 block of N. 44th Street) on a report of a shooting just before 7:30 a.m.

Officers found a 28-year-old man with apparent gunshot wounds inside of an apartment. Authorities said they initiated life saving measures, but the man did not survive and was pronounced dead at the scene.

There is no on-going threat to the public.

The victim was not identified but police say the family has been notified. LPD says they will provide an update during the media briefing on Tuesday.
